Hereford Stove Plate

Hereford Stove Plate

This side from a dismantled five plate stove was used for many years as a fireback.

Pennsylvania's Hereford Furnace was built in 1745 by Thomas Maybury.

In 1757 his son William began managing the furnace. It is his initials (WM) that can be seen on the face of the fireback, split by the Hereford furnace name.
